Saying goodbyes

January 14, 2015

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. There are so many things that have happened this week and as it comes to a close I am so honored, blessed and privileged to have been able to make this trip halfway around the world. I came here with the intention and expectation of encouraging the Fleenor family, however it was I that was encouraged! There is so much darkness and evil in Cambodia, just like everywhere else in the world but having what I feel like is family here serving these people and most of all serving God makes Cambodia special in my heart. I leave here with a heavy heart... as I think about things I've seen and heard, yet I am also encouraged. Encouraged by the work that God is doing here. It is very evident through the medical clinic that Paul is working so hard at,  kids club where Diane has a ministry with the children, the Rapha House and through the lives and the hearts of the Khmer people who thru these ministries have already found Jesus. I am so thankful that Paul and Diane said yes when they heard Christ asking them to move their family from comfort in California to Cambodia and a life of discomfort. They have such a love for these people, that too is very evident. It didn't take long at all for our team to fall in love with the Khmer people too! There is a saying I've never heard before coming to Cambodia...same same but different! The Khmer people are the same as us, but it is very different here.

The Fleenors came here loving and trusting God, not knowing really what to expect... Proverbs 3:5-6 (paraphrased)says as we trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not to our own understanding, and we acknowledge him and all our ways he will direct our paths. That promise is very encouraging to me as I see it lived out through Paul and Diane's life.

We are leaving for the airport in a couple of hours to make our journey home.
